World Future Energy Summit 2026 Builds on Established Hydrogen Innovation Hub as UK-GCC Collaboration Accelerates

  • UK Pavilion to Showcase Leading Innovators as Green Hydrogen Emerges as a Cornerstone of the Global Clean-Energy Transition
  • Summit and GCC Could Hold Key to UK’s Affordable Energy Challenge

Abu Dhabi, UAE – 22 December, 2025: The World Future Energy Summit (WFES), hosted by Masdar and held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from 13-15 January 2026, will once again feature its Hydrogen Innovation Hub, a major initiative that reflects the pivotal role green hydrogen is expected to play in decarbonising global industries, transport, heating and power generation.

Produced via electrolysis powered by renewable energy, green hydrogen is rapidly becoming a defining pillar of the clean-energy transition, and the dedicated Hub will showcase cutting-edge technologies across the full hydrogen value chain, from production and storage to transport, conversion, and end-use applications, with companies from the United Kingdom eager to seize the opportunity.

The Hub comes as international momentum behind green hydrogen is accelerating. Insights from the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) 2025 Advisory Committee emphasise that although green hydrogen currently represents less than one per cent of global supply, rapid scaling is expected as certification standards mature, infrastructure expands, and cross-border trade agreements take shape – developments highlighting hydrogen’s growing importance as an emissions-reduction tool and a future-shaping energy commodity.

For the UK, the Hub is timely as it continues to advance an ambitious clean-energy agenda, supported by targeted government backing and strategic investments to accelerate low-carbon hydrogen production. Ongoing development of industrial hydrogen clusters in England and Scotland underscores the UK’s determination to integrate hydrogen into a diversified, secure, and affordable energy system. WFES will provide a global platform for UK organisations to connect with rapidly expanding hydrogen ecosystems worldwide, especially those in the Arabian Gulf, which are emerging as among the most cost-competitive green-hydrogen producers.

A prominent UK Pavilion, organised by the Energy Industries Council (EIC), will bring together leading innovators, including Net Zero Technology Centre (NZTC), Graphene Innovations Manchester, Reactive Technologies, the University of Leicester, Carbon Clean, Xodus, Oxford PV, and the Zenco Group. Their participation illustrates how UK technology, research, and industrial expertise are increasingly aligned with global hydrogen deployment needs.

“The Hydrogen Innovation Hub underscores a pivotal shift in the global energy dialogue,” said Shyam Parmar, Event Director, World Future Energy Summit. “Hydrogen is no longer an experimental concept; it is moving into industrial reality. World Future Energy Summit 2026 will give UK and international companies direct access to the policymakers, financiers, and innovators shaping that transition, particularly as the GCC races ahead with large-scale projects and world-class renewable capabilities.”

Summit discussions will explore the building blocks of a viable global hydrogen economy: standards and certification, bankability and financing, supply-chain resilience, infrastructure readiness, and predictable demand and offtake. The programme reflects an industry transitioning from pilot concepts to scalable commercial deployment, including advances in hydrogen transport, green ammonia, hydrogen storage solutions, and zero-emissions mobility. The Summit’s global investor presence reinforces rising confidence that hydrogen will be central to achieving national and corporate net-zero commitments.

Countries across the Gulf, including the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Saudi Arabia, are placing green hydrogen at the core of long-term decarbonisation strategies, capitalising on their abundant solar resources and major investment pipelines. As these renewable-rich regions move to become large-scale exporters of green hydrogen and its derivatives, opportunities for UK-GCC cooperation continue to expand. For the UK, access to global supply routes can support domestic ambitions by diversifying import options for green fuels and feedstock, strengthening energy security, and complementing national hydrogen production targets.

As the UK ramps up plans to expand low-carbon hydrogen capacity by 2030, WFES offers a bridge to international technologies, innovators, and investment partners. It also provides visibility into emerging export hubs capable of supplying green hydrogen, ammonia, and e-fuels at a competitive scale, thereby opening new paths for UK industries seeking cleaner energy inputs and supporting the country’s wider net zero transition.

With more than 50,000 visitors, 450 exhibitors, and 300 expert speakers and high-level delegations from across the Middle East and beyond, World Future Energy Summit 2026 is positioned to catalyse global green-hydrogen progress. “Hydrogen is a global industry that can only advance through collaboration,” Parmar added. “Our Hydrogen Innovation Hub represents a turning point by bringing together the world’s leading thinkers and doers to turn policy into projects and ambition into action. For UK companies, the opportunities for partnership, investment and commercial growth are extraordinary.”
