In 2012, WFES brought together more than 150 eminent thought leaders toreveal the latest innovations and discuss the burning issues surroundingfuture energy and energy efficiency. Designed to address the theme ‘Powering Sustainable Innovation’, the Summit explored role of innovationin transforming the use of fossil fuel based energy into a diverse mixfeaturing renewable and sustainable energy sources.
Throughout the four days of the Summit, the underlying theme of innovation was seen across the framework of policy, business, technology and finance with ground-breaking presentations from industry leaders.

The Welcome Speech was delivered by HE Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Chief Executive Officer,Masdar, United Arab Emirates. This was followed by Keynote Speeches presented by HE WenJiabao, Premier, People’s Republic of China, HE Kim Hwang-sik, Prime Minister, Republic ofKorea, HE Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, President, United Nations General Assembly, HE BanKi-Moon, Secretary-General, United Nations followed by Innovative Speeches by BertrandPiccard, Chief Executive Officer, Solar Impulse, Swiss Confederation. Aidan Dwyer, YoungInnovator from the USA and group of students pledged the young generation’s commitment toinnovation for a cleaner future.
