Bioenergy: Biomass for Power Generation
Demand for biomass for power stations is growing globally, in particular in Europe and the US. International trade in a range of biomass feedstocks is growing. Sustainability certification is increasingly required for feedstocks. This session will explore the drivers behind biomass demand for power, how it may grow globally and regionally, what type of power stations will dominate demand, how an increasing demand may be supplied by domestic or internationally traded feedstocks and in what form, interesting emerging supply chains and business models, and how sustainability may influence feedstock procurement and supply. The debate will be led by a panel of representatives from utilities, biomass suppliers and international agencies.
