Information for Press

We are pleased to once again welcome members of the press to the third edition of The World Future Energy Summit 2010 in Abu Dhabi. The media that attend the Summit, play a critical role in keeping audiences across the world involved and engaged in the debate. Indeed it is a role that is vital to driving successful and solid outcomes. We hope that you find the event informative and productive. Below are some logistical details that you may find useful.

Press centre

The press centre is located in Conference Room B, next to the VIP entrance and the restaurants. It will be open from 08:00 to 19:00

Facilities: The press centre has 20 laptop computers,30 additional wired connections and wireless internet connections, printing facilities and a lounge area for meetings. There will also be a live feed from the plenary hall for those that have not been able to gain access due to space restrictions.

Press conferences will be generally be held within the press centre, with the exception of a few that may take place at exhibitor’s stands.  A schedule of press conferences is listed below. Please arrive a few minutes early in order to allow timely starts.

Press liaison representatives manage the press centre constantly and will try to help with any queries or requests you might have.

Drop boxes will be regularly refreshed with press announcements and additional information, however we encourage you to take advantage of our digital environmentally friendly media centre on www.worldfutureenergysummit.com/media-centre where you can find press releases, photos and other press materials. Broadcast feeds will be available. These can be reserved with Harvey Scherer, Broadcast Manager, mamemo productions on +971 50 8699560, and are available in SDI, Composite video, and audio signal formats.

Photographs will be available in digital format from the Press Office. A selection of photos will also be placed online and can be found at http://www.wfes.ae/photo-gallery.aspx

Registration

Press registration is located in the press centre. We encourage early registration the day prior to the opening of the event to avoid queuing.

Car parking

Car parking for press is in car park B, which is nearest to the press centre.

Important Note

Photography at the opening session is allowed for accredited cameramen only and is strictly restricted to designated photographers. No photography is allowed in the opening session. Photographs will be available from the press centre.

Broadcasters are permitted to film, record interviews and take photos in all public areas of the summit unless otherwise restricted for security reasons. Generally, all conference sessions and technical streams are open to the print media, subject to availability of sufficient space.

Non-public areas that are restricted include prayer rooms, bathrooms, private offices of the venue and areas under construction. Please respect cultural sensitivities in the United Arab Emirates. If you are in doubt whether to film something/someone, please ask for permission.

For breakout rooms A and B, television cameras and photographers can enter and film the technical streams freely. Please use the press riser located at the back of each breakout room. Using aisles or the front of the stage to take pictures is not permitted.

Technical Information

The distance from the media riser to the stage is 30 metres, we advise photographers to bring appropriate photo equipment.

Due to capacity limitations in the plenary hall, the organisers are providing a broadcast ready video and audio stream. There will be 10x SDI & 20x Composite video signal and 30 x audio signal feeds available on a first come, first served basis behind the grandstand in a work space environment.

The broadcast video and audio PGM signal (mix of 4 cameras) will be available royalty free.
