About the Summit

The World Future Energy Summit is the world’s foremost gathering of political leaders, investors, researchers and the extended business community within both the renewable and traditional clean energy sectors.  The event provides a platform for organizations at the forefront of finding and deploying real and proven solutions to the world’s most pressing issues: climate change, the environment, energy security and economic stability.

It is a unique event, offering all participants the chance to drive real change from the very heart of the world’s hydrocarbon economy.  First and foremost, the event is a place to learn, to do business, to meet commercial partners, and to develop and strengthen relationships and conclude deals. At the World Future Energy Summit we really are turning energy challenges into business opportunities.

In April 2006, Abu Dhabi took a bold and historic decision to embrace renewable and sustainable energy solutions. As the first major hydrocarbon-producing nation to take such a step, it established its leadership position by launching Masdar - a global cooperative platform for research, development and deployment of alternative energy solutions. Masdar City, home of the headquarters of IRENA (International Renewable Energy Agency) and one of the world’s first eco-cities, is testament to this vision.

Under the patronage of H.H. General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Masdar hosted the inaugural World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi in January 2008.  Since then, the event has grown significantly and the 2010 meeting, promises to further solidify Summit's reputation of being the world's foremost gathering on renewable energy.

حول القمة:
تعتبر القمة العالمية لطاقة المستقبل من أبرز المنابر التي يجتمع تحت مظلتها صانعو السياسات، وخبراء القطاع، والمستثمرون، والباحثون المختصون بقطاعات الطاقة المتجددة والطاقة النظيفة. ويشكل الحدث منصة للمؤسسات العاملة على إيجاد ونشر حلول فعالة للتحديات الأكثر إلحاحاً في العالم وهي قضايا التغير المناخي وأمن الطاقة والاستقرار الاقتصادي.

وتعد القمة الأحداث النوعية التي توفر لكافة المشاركين فرصة قيادة التغيير الحقيقي من المنطقة الأكثر اعتماداً على النفط في العالم. وتشكل القمة منصة لاكتساب المعلومات وإنجاز صفقات الأعمال ولقاء الشركاء التجاريين فضلاً عن تطوير وتعزيز العلاقات وعقد الاتفاقيات الاستثمارية.

وفي أبريل 2006، اتخذت أبوظبي قراراً جريئاً وتاريخياً لتبني حلول الطاقة المتجددة والمستدامة. وكأول بلد منتج للنفط يقوم بخطوة مماثلة أرست الإمارة لنفسها مكانة قيادية من خلال إطلاق مبادرة مصدر التي تعتبر منصة تعاونية للبحوث وتطوير ونشر حلول الطاقة المتجددة. ويجسد مشروع مدينة مصدر الذي يستضيف المقر العام للوكالة الدولية للطاقة المتجددة (آيرينا) والذي يعتبر من أولى المدن الصديقة للبيئة في العالم، رؤية قيادة الإمارة في هذه المجال.

وقد استضافت مصدر الدورة الافتتاحية للقمة العالمية لطاقة المستقبل في أبوظبي في يناير 2008 تحت رعاية الفريق أول سمو الشيخ محمد بن زايد آل نهيان ولي عهد أبوظبي ونائب القائد الأعلى للقوات المسلحة. ومنذ ذلك الحين تزايدت أهمية الحدث ويتوقع أن تعزز هذه الدورة سمعة القمة كونها من أهم المنابر العالمية المتخصصة بالطاقة المتجددة.
